IKEA PH opens online store, checkout resumes 9/24/2021

Update: Ikea PH officially opened its 24/7 online store operations starting November 3, 2021.

The second happiest place on Earth is now open… online but that’s the same thing these days. IKEA PH opens up their online store today, September 23rd. But don’t get too excited just yet. It was apparently just a test run.

Ikea is a Swedish furniture maker that is known for low-cost, nice-looking, good quality products. They even have a collection of food items that are also pretty good (chocolates, meatballs, sausages!) but they’re not in the PH website yet as of today.

Still, you may now see the items that you can shop for online and the corresponding PH prices. Also, the website says you may keep adding to cart as checkouts will resume tomorrow.

Check out these Summer Drinks and More from Starbucks PH

It is summer! That used to mean lounging on a beachfront somewhere while enjoying a refreshing drink. But not anymore. For the last two years, we have been staying home whenever possible or going on a socially distanced work/errand run.

This year, as we continue on our quest of maintaining a sense of normal, Starbucks brings summer right to our doorsteps with their newest offerings starting April 20.

For drinks they have these four new refreshing iced Teavana beverages: the Sunshine Pineapple Oolong made with real golden pineapple chunks, pineapple sauce, and a honey cold foam; the Sunshine Peach Oolong with refreshing peach juice and white peach jelly chunks finished with honey cold foam; the Triple Golden Monkey layered with malty oatmilk, silky tea foam and tea-flavored cookie crumbs; the Cocoa Golden Monkey that has a decadent mocha sauce. All four new Teavana beverages come in limited edition reusable cups.

These are available for only P175 each if you get it in store or via drive-thru, 195 via Grab.

Starbucks brings back a PH Christmas Tradition with the 2021 Planners and Organizers

In an uncertain time when activities are still limited due to a global pandemic, many people question the need for planners and organizers. But the thing is, our lives keep going even if our world has drastically changed. We may have to cancel our travel plans, we may be forced to work from home or even lose our jobs, and we may need to overhaul our whole lives but beyond all that, life goes on. There is no pause button. We do the best that we can and move forward. If we are lucky, we get to throw in a semblance of normalcy by having that regular cup of Starbucks or celebrate the holidays the way we used to.

For my friends and I, collecting the Starbucks planners and organizers is part of the holiday tradition. They do end up more as notebooks nowadays but then the fun part is in collecting and getting them. We weren’t sure we were getting them this year but luckily, Starbucks just unveiled their best looking Philippine-exclusive designs yet.

Starbucks re-opens select Drive-Thru Stores in PH

Update: 4/9/2020

Due to the overwhelming reception, Starbucks PH has decided to pause operations of its drive-thru stores to support the government’s enhanced community quarantine protocols.

4/8/2020 It has been almost a month since the Community Quarantine started in Luzon. At this point, we are all looking for some semblance of normalcy and what is more normal than having that daily coffee fix from Starbucks!

Well, good news! Starting April 8, select Starbucks stores will open to serve you via Drive-Thru.

Starbucks Philippines temporarily closed all of its stores on March 23 following the start of the community lockdown. Amid the pandemic, the company has donated food and beverages to frontliners such as medical personnel, law enforcement personnel, NGO volunteers and organizations.

It is Cherry Blossom Season at Starbucks

Given any other global circumstance, people would be flocking by this time of the year to Japan in anticipation of spring. But since air travel may not be the best idea, at least not for the next few months, let’s go with the next best thing.

This February, Starbucks embraces the changing of the season with new favorites inspired by the sweet-smelling peach blossom – the Pink Peach Blossom Cream Frappuccino. This has a peach jelly infusion in the cream base and pink flower meringue topping that tastes as delightful as it looks. There’s also the Chocolate Black Tea Peach Blossom Cream Frappuccino that blends the aromatic black tea, creamy chocolate, and tart pink peach sauce to make an indulgent spring in a cup!

Mararison Island, Antique

When someone asks a Filipino to recommend a local destination, Antique might be the last place that they would think of. But hear me out –  there is an island less than three hours from the capital town that I think stands out to be one of the best-looking beach destinations in the country.

The developing 55-hectare island is surrounded by white sandy beaches and rolling hills that could rival that of Batanes. The trek requires a guide that is available at about P200 as of 2019. Meanwhile, the locals that live in the beach area offer homestays for tourists that also immerse you on the locals’ ways of life. Alternatively, there is a private resort that offers humble cottages fronting a cove that is perfect for photoshoots and/or R&R.

Check out my Instagram (@dalebacar) for more photos and videos from this trip.

How to go to Mararison: From San Jose in Antique, Kalibo, or Caticlan, take a bus to Culasi, Antique. At the Culasi Port, take a boat to Mararison. If you are booking the private resort, they have their own private boat that takes you to the island from their beach-front restaurant in Culasi. Instructions will be provided upon booking.

Check out the Starbucks PH 2020 Lunar New Year Collection

LNY Year of the Rat Collection_2

The Lunar Festival of 2020 ushers in the Year of the Rat. Believers of the Chinese Zodiac believe that it means a year of vitality and intelligence. I am not too sure about that, but what I am sure of is that the Lunar New Year goodies from Starbucks PH are super adorable and a must-have especially if you started collecting last year.

Maintaining the same style as 2019’s Year of the Pig merchandise, this year’s LNY collection features the cute and playful rat, amongst blossoming cherry and orange trees in bold red, gold, and Starbucks green pantones.

A LNY Card design is also available at an initial activation load of P300. All LNY items are available starting January 7, 2020.

Swosh – the new laundry service app that you have got to have

Living in the Metro isn’t always easy. Moreso for urban professionals who live independently. You have your work and life balance to juggle along with responsibilities, bills, chores, and the undying traffic that always gets in the way, eating up our precious time.

Good thing, we live at a time when app-based services actually help make our lives easier. Heck, they have become integral for us to even have a life where we can still enjoy and not worry about our endless to-do lists.

When in Manila, I have to have the following apps: GRAB/Angkas for transport, Honestbee/foodpanda for food and grocery deliveries, Eatigo/Zomato for discounts, GMovies to avoid the pesky movie queue, Grindr for entertainment (I kid, I kid), and recently, Swosh for laundry/dry clean services!
