Revisiting Boracay

IMG_5957

Our 5-day Holy Week getaway in Boracay ends today. While waiting for our Cebu Pacific flight from Caticlan to Manila, I  drafted this visual diary before it gets added to my growing pile of unpublished travel blog posts.

There really isn’t anything new that I can say about Boracay. Every year, we go back and see more hotels being erected, more restaurants and bars, and even more tourists than the year before. In the face of all these changes,   her beauty may get eclipsed; drowned by the endless crowd that flock to her beach for selfies, parties and sport activities. But at first light, when most of her guests are still asleep, I take the opportunity to walk around and take pictures. It is at this time, when the light first touches her powdery white sand and the water gradually turns a gentle blue color that I get to see the Boracay that the world gushes over. In those first few hours after dawn, Boracay becomes that breathtaking paradise plucked out from a not so distant memory.
