In late 2015, SM Seaside City Cebu redefined premium cinema experience by launching Southeast Asia’s first laser projection system and a large format theater called SM Large Screen Cinema. The theater boasts of a supersized screen which is almost 30% larger than the regular cinema screen size, a 3D platform that accurately reproduces the colors of an actual movie set, and a Dolby Atmos Sound System and top-of-the-line Christie Vive Speakers. This is shop talk for – OMG this is an awesome way to watch movies – said any cinephile having a mindgasm. SM Large Screen Cinema can seat up to 351 guests in a stadium-like setting.
SM Cinema Seaside City Cebu also houses the “Center Stage,” an 830-seater hybrid between a cinema and a stage theater which is perfect for movie premieres, pageants, concerts, and other occasions. Specially created to cater to special events, the venue is equipped with theater lighting, two (2) standard dressing rooms, and one (1) star dressing room. On days that the theater is not used for events, it offers an impressive space for movie watching – and this is on top of four (4) regular cinemas, two (2) Director’s Club Cinemas and the SM Large Screen Cinema, making SM Seaside City Cebu the premier entertainment capital of Cebu City!
2016 gives us a lot of options for potential blockbusters that would be perfect to watch in this state of the art set-up. From comic-book heroes, a massive MMORPG adaptation, a sequel that is 20 years in the making, a prequel to one of the most important book/film series of this generation, and a classic Filipino heroine who is about to soar again, SM Cinema Seaside City Cebu provides the perfect venue for our most anticipated films list.

One of my most favorite stories in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was the one where Doctor Strange led all of the world’s heroes in the great battle against Doom who acquired the Infinity Gauntlet. Following this storyline, but with Thanos as the ultimate master of the gauntlet, I think Doom is set to be one of key characters in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War that will culminate in 2018/2019.
Just because we could not get enough of Harry Potter! From J.K. Rowling comes a trilogy of films from a book once featured in the original series. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set 70 years before the Harry Potter timeline and features Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne.

Okay I have to add this one here as it kinda fits the theme. This year’s remake of the iconic Filipino heroine looks super awesome judging from the teaser trailer from last years Metro Manila Film Festival. The film is directed by Erik Matti who helmed the controversial Honor Thy Father, the critically-acclaimed Cannes Film Festival entry – On the Job, and the Tiktik Chronicles. The film has yet to release a trailer online, as well as reveal the film’s new lead. Will update as soon as those info become available.
